Kalika Power's 7% bonus shares list on NEPSE: 653,765 units now tradable
Shareholders on record at the January book close finally see the bonus in their Demat accounts, with the 0.3684% cash portion covering the tax bill.
Kathmandu, Sept 29. Kalika Power Company Ltd's 7% bonus shares began trading on the Nepal Stock Exchange on Monday, with 653,764.65 units listed for the secondary market.
The listing follows the company's 18th annual general meeting on 28 Poush 2082 (January 12, 2026), which endorsed a 7.3684% dividend for fiscal year 2081/82: 7% in bonus shares worth Rs 6.53 crore, and 0.3684% in cash worth Rs 34.40 lakh, earmarked for the tax on the bonus shares, according to the company's official AGM notice filed with NEPSE.
For shareholders on record at the January 2 book closure, every 100 shares held produces 7 bonus shares. The cash portion works out to about Rs 36.84 per 100 shares before the 5% dividend withholding tax.
KPCL closed at Rs 465.10 on Monday. The company's listed share count rises to 9,993,260 units after the listing. NEPSE had already adjusted the share price to Rs 530.84 on January 2 to reflect the bonus issue.
The listing adds no new capital to the company; it converts reserves into paid-up capital. What changes for investors is liquidity: the bonus units are now freely tradable, which can add near-term selling pressure as recipients book gains.
What 100 shares get you
| Holding | Result |
|---|---|
| 100 shares at book close | 7 bonus shares |
| Cash before 5% tax | Rs 36.84 |
Bonus shares carry Rs 100 face value each; market value moves with the KPCL price.
Why it matters
- The bonus is now liquid: 653,765 new KPCL shares can trade from today.
- The 0.3684% cash is not a payout to enjoy; it is sized to cover the tax on the bonus.
- NEPSE adjusted the price back in January, so today's listing should not surprise the market.
