What is aaja ko miti?
Aaja ko miti (आजको मिति) simply means "today's date" in Nepali, the current date in the Bikram Sambat calendar, the official calendar of Nepal, roughly 56–57 years ahead of the Gregorian calendar. Government offices, banks, schools, and newspapers across Nepal all run on BS dates, which is why "nepali date today" is one of the most searched phrases in the country every morning.
How the conversion works
Unlike the Gregorian calendar, Bikram Sambat month lengths vary from year to year, so there is no fixed formula. This page converts the current Nepal-time date using a published BS month-length dataset for BS 2000–2090, the same reference data used by popular open-source Nepali date libraries, verified against known anchors such as 2000-01-01 BS = 14 April 1943 AD.
